This past Father's Day weekend saw the 10th annual Northern California Pirate Festival in Vallejo. 2 days and one night of revelry, mischief, drinking, a sailor singing sea shanties, mermaids swimming in a lagoon, the Barbary Coast Burlesque, sword dancers and snakes, and 2 Irish rock bands.
Here's a reworked Bay Bridge photo, desaturated to Black & White then split toned. Much, much simpler color palette, and a little bit unearthly. But then night photos are always surprising with their colors. The human eye can't see as much color detail at night like a camera.
There's a nostalgic feeling created by black and white cityscapes. I like to think of fedoras and trench coats, cigarette smoke and cabaret singers. A foggy city, but The City was without its famous fog this night.
